AI - specifically LLMs - are such a valuable tool for software development. Not only am I shipping better quality stuff than I did before it, I’m also learning so much.

The difference between using Bluesky with an active blocklist and without is night and day.
The paint.net developer being dogpiled for what is objectively a very cool technical implementation using an LLM to assist left such a sour taste in my mouth that I started looking for way to filter out my discover section.
It’s okay to be sceptical about AI, but what frustrates me about the online discourse is just how binary and lacking nuance it is.
Of course, this wasn’t for free, there’s a certain amount of rigour and testing. I don’t merge any code that I don’t understand what’s it’s doing, it’s just that the decision making has shifted upwards.
Anyway, Bluesky for me is a platform where I hoped to connect with like minded people who like to build high quality stuff (no, not AI slop), but what it is right now is a hate fest of people who don’t actually understand the process of building software.
Hence the block list to the rescue! You don’t have to love AI, but you do have to be emotionally intelligent enough to have basic conversations without devolving into shouting matches, and perhaps some curiousity about this paradigm shifting technological advancement.
